The 5th EU-Africa Summit took place from 27th – 29th November 2017 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The EU-Africa summit brought together EU and African leaders to define the future direction for cooperation between the two continents. Together the European Union and African states adopted a joint declaration outlining common priorities for the EU-Africa partnership in four strategic areas:

  • Economic opportunities for youth
  • Peace and security
  • Mobility and migration
  • Cooperation on governance

Added by many African heads of state, including the President of Ghana; Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo moving away from Aid to Trade.

EBOWWN Chairman Renato  Pacheco Neto conferred with Federica Mogherini the Vice-President of the European Union on business in non-EU countries and Economic Diplomacy in General, whilst Nico van Staalduinen and other Directors of EBO were speakers at the coinciding events during the summit; the EU-Africa Business summit.

The main goal for EBO in Africa is to start to set up more European Business Organizations and Chambers in Africa, the fastest growing continent at this moment.

Meetings like this are important for EBO and the relation with the EU to inform and enhance the understanding of the EU what kind of hindrances, obstacles and challenges European companies are facing in African countries.

The summit was visited by 32 European and African heads of states and the first of this size in Africa.
